The biggest bridal colour trend of 2019, unveiled.
Posted on July 15 2019
Here at Ivory & Co, we’ve seen wedding trends come and go over the years. From boho chic to all-out florals, there’s a theme to match every bridal style, however, one that we can see sticking around is the incorporation of bronze elements…
Found to be currently outselling the more traditional metallics like gold and silver, bronze presents a much softer and more muted colour option making it easy to create drama, without making a big statement.
With any colour trend though, it can be hard to know how much or little to incorporate it into your big day and where it would be best placed. With this in mind, we’ve collated some of our top tips for introducing the trend into your wedding design.
Bring bronze into your bridal look
With one of the most exciting events of your life on the horizon, you want to ensure that you look and feel your best for your special day, and a great way to add interest to your look is by playing with colour and texture.
Bronze is an incredibly three dimensional material, not only boasting beautifully warm hues, but also adding a touch of elegant glamour to your bridal look. You can bring the metallic into your look in a multitude of ways but one way that we think works beautifully, in a subtle way, is through headpieces and jewellery. By featuring the colour in your accessories, you have complete control how prominently the trend is incorporated, making it as stand-out or simple as you like.
Our Laurel tiara is the perfect statement piece for a Grecian themed celebration or a beautiful bohemian inspired day, and looks stunning with all styles of bridal hairstyles. However, if you want something more dainty and subtle, take a look at our Cybele hair vine, which is perfect for brides who are looking for a more understated look.
The trend is stunning in bridal make up too; bronzed eyelids are a great way to showcase blue or green eyes, or give a more tropical look for dark eyed beauties. You’ll also find lots of bronze highlight shades on the market, which are perfect for enhancing bridal make up and helping to give a naturally tanned look that is simple and effortless.
Decor that delights
With modern day wedding breakfast and receptions being key elements of your wedding day, you’ll want to ensure that the theme you choose stands out from the crowd and offers memorability throughout your day and beyond.
The 2019/2020 season has seen growth of both the minimal and bronze trends, and these are often merged together, in order to create a romantic feel for your chosen space.
Accessorising your wedding breakfast and reception with bronze elements, such as crockery or cutlery, with your table centre pieces or with candles or lanterns dotted around the space will help to create a polished overall look and feel, as well as adding a sense of warmth and intimacy during the evening.
A bronze colour palette also lends itself well to your wedding stationery, such as save the dates, wedding invitations and orders of service. Use bronze highlights to ensure that important information, such as the wedding date, truly stands out to your guests. It can be beautifully embossed into your invites, using a handwritten font, to give it a personal and contemporary touch.

Colour Matching
Since bronze naturally holds a warm and romantic undertone, it can be paired with a multitude of corresponding colour themes, including the ever popular blush pink and navy colour options. A lovely bridesmaid gift idea is a piece of bronze jewellery to complement their bridesmaid dress, not only will it enhance the overall look and feel of your wedding, but it will also make for a special present that they can wear for years to come.
You can also include bronze features in your all important wedding cake design. From subtle bronze elements, such as ribbons and toppers, to all out bronze themed cake creations, with your cake being a key focal point within your wedding, it’s the ideal place to pay homage to the tone.
